Keepsake Quilt

Keepsake quilts are a custom made product created from your pre-loved clothing items! Quilts are made in 3 layers: The top layer is considered the quilt top and is made using 6" x 6" squares of your clothing. The middle layer is made of cotton batting, and the bottom layer is made of minky dot fleece fabric. Quilts also have a satin binding that goes around the edge of the quilt that will match the fleece fabric you have chosen.

When ordering a quilt, you will choose what size quilt you want as well as what color of fleece fabric you want to be used for the back of your quilt. Please note, the quilt sizes are as follows but may vary depending on the type of clothing that is sent:

25 squares (5 columns and 5 rows), measures approx. 28 1/2" x 28 1/2"

30 squares (5 columns and 6 rows), measures approx. 29" x 34"

42 squares (6 columns and 7 rows), measures approx. 34 1/4" x 39 1/2"

49 squares (7 columns and 7 rows), measures approx. 39 1/2" x 39 1/2" 

For fleece fabric colors, your options are blue, pink, and gray. Please specify which of these 3 colors you want used for the backing of your quilt in the notes section at checkout. 

When it comes to deciding how many clothing items to send in, this is what I recommend: For the 25 square quilt, I recommend sending in 25 items. For the 30 square quilt, I recommend sending in 30 items. For the 42 square quilt, I recommend sending  in 42 items. For the 49 square quilt, I recommend sending in 49 items. ** If sending baby sized clothing, I recommend using the size 3-6 months and UP because baby clothes tend to be too small to make a square. ** I use 6" x 6" squares and depending on the size of the clothing, I may be able to cut 2 squares from 1 clothing item. However, I always recommend sending more than you think to ensure you have enough to be used for your quilt top and so it won't delay in your quilt being completed. Whatever clothing that is not used will always be sent back with your quilt.  

Cotton based clothing works the best! The more clothing items you send will help give more variety to your keepsake's appearance. If you are ever unsure about a clothing item, how many items to send, etc. please feel free to email me at: sewthisislove.info@gmail.com. 

After placing your order, you will receive a confirmation email. This email will contain the address to mail your clothes to, instructions about the best way to mail clothing, AND a google form where you can leave any special requests/notes for your keepsake. The current turnaround time is 12 weeks, and this begins once I receive your clothing!
